Dan as a child was always interested in music and at the age of 11 in
1972 began lessons with a borrowed guitar. He started with a summer
group guitar class at Graham school in North St. Louis County.
The following Christmas he received his first acoustic guitar and his parents agreed that he could have guitar lessons if he found a teacher that would teach him how to read music and that he would practice on a regular basis. He found a good teacher, learned how to read music and never had to be probed to practice. He continued his lessons for five years. By age 16 Dan began playing in a number of rock bands throughout high school, performing at high school dances and private parties. And then in 1983 Dan began a full time career in music playing in pop and rock bands in nightclubs all over St. Louis until 1989. Frustrated with the fast paced music industry and the local rock scene, Dan took a hiatus for several years. In 1999 he began studying classical guitar with virtuoso Kirk Hanser and took instructions with Kirk for five years. Since then Dan has pursued his career in music and currently plays local restaurants, retirement communities, and country clubs. Original compositions are also a part of Dan's forte' along with classical music, light jazz standards and pop. |
